Several of Hollywood’s most beloved stars made their way to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday for the 2015 Black Girls Rock ceremony! And the ladies and gents in attendance made sure to put their sexiest dresses and sharpest suits on for the event, which that celebrates the accomplishments of women and young girls of color in academia, entertainment, business and philanthropy. There were definitely some standout looks from the star-studded night, and we’ve gathered them all for you here!
Show co-host and fashion icon Tracee Ellis Ross made quite the statement with her one-shoulder gown that featured a colorful print down its right side. She completed her look with a gorgeous fro of curls and a purple lip. Love it, Tracee!
Regina King, the show’s other host, gleamed in a fierce metallic grey pantsuit that showed off a little cleavage. Her hair was styled in a sleek bob, and she gave her glowing look a pop of color with a ruby red lip.
Janelle Monae looked lovely in a black crop top with white piping around the shoulders and neck and a coordinating black and white striped skirt. She completed her look with black cage sandals, a striped clutch, red lip and fierce fro-hawk. So fly!
Orange Is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks flaunted her curves in a sexy black jumpsuit. She paired the elegant look with loose curls, a black clutch and a dramatic smokey eye.
Faith Evans stuck to a neutral palette for the night, rocking a cream dress with intricate silver detailing. She finished her look with a flirty French braid and a pair of silver strappy sandals.
Ciara looked like a vision in a curve-hugging black dress that showed off her amazing post-baby body. The new mommy completed her look with black sandals and her hair styled in soft waves.
Jill Scott also hit the red carpet in a black jumpsuit that featured white and cream panels on the side. She broke up the monochromatic look with a pair of funky, floral-print platforms, and her hair ways styled in one a gorgeous afro. Show them how it’s done, Jill!
Trend alert! E! News’ Alicia Quarles also rocked a monochromatic jumpsuit on Saturday night, breaking up the look with an oversized necklace and navy and red sandals with mesh detailing. Her hair was styled in a super cute bob, and she completed the look with a fun red lip.
Bridget Kelly mixed things up with a yellow, black and blue printed strapless dress. She added a little edge to her look with strappy sandals, an ombre bob and dark red lip.
The Smith family also made quite the arrival on the red carpet! Jada Pinkett Smith, who received the Star Power Award at the show, dressed her petite frame perfectly in a white sleeveless dress that featured a sheer panel with silver detailing at the bottom. She completed her look with metallic platform heels. Her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, looked gorgeous in a white, curve-hugging halter dress that featured metallic detailing around the neck. Willow Smith kept things effortlessly cool in a grey pantsuit over a grey turtleneck that she paired with black platform sandals and grey socks. What a budding fashionista! And Will Smith also looked handsome in a printed blazer, black slacks and black shoes.
Now this technically wasn’t a red carpet look, but Frist Lady Michelle Obama also shut the show down in a white, off-the-shoulder dress that she paired with silver heels. She finished her outfit with a sleek bob and chandelier earrings. She’s beyond fab!
Erykah Badu, who won the Rock Star Award at the ceremony, also skipped the red carpet. But her casual chic on-stage look of an oversized hat, printed jacket, distressed denim overalls and black boots was just too good not to mention. Analog Girl never disappoints!
