It is a sad day as Dick Clark has passed away at the age of 82, confirms ABC News.

Dick died of a massive heart attack after having an amazing recovery from a stroke in 2004.

Even after his stroke, Dick continued to take part in Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve as Ryan Seacrest took over as host. Dick never missed a kiss from his wife at midnight.

After starting his career in the mailroom of an upstate New York radio station, Dick rose through the ranks and in 1952 became a radio DJ in Philadelphia, which led to his big career break: Hosting American Bandstand, a teen dance show that went national just five years later. The rest is history!

He eventually moved to Hollywood and started Dick Clark Productions, which led to 25,000 Pyramid amongst many others, and began the historic New Year's Eve show.
