Johnny Depp admits to basing Captain Jack Sparrow on Rolling Stone Keith Richards, and now he’s provided the voice-over for a documentary about those other hell-raising ’60s icons — The Doors.
“As a rock n’ roll documentary, or any kind of documentary for that matter, it simply doesn’t get any better than this,” Johnny said in a statement.
“What an honor to have been involved. I am as proud of this as anything I have ever done.”
When You’re Strange: A Film About the Doors has been compiled solely from archival footage — some of it never before seen of the group during its heyday — and will hit theaters on April 9, reports E! Online.
The Doors, fronted by Jim Morrison, have been the subject of several movies including 1991’s The Doors directed by Oliver Stone and starring Val Kilmer as the Lizard King himself.
