Carrie Underwood, Jeff Beck and David Arquette all participated in the American Idol Gives Back show Wednesday night at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium as they feel it is their duty to do so! Jeff told reporters, “Well, let’s face it, a massive show like this, if it didn’t participate in some kind of charity there would be something wrong with it, with all the billions.”

“This is the stuff that really makes a difference, Carrie told reporters of the American Idol Gives back show. “We’re coming up on ten seasons very soon of American Idol and it’s just incredible. Twenty years later, people might not remember who won what or what happened but this is the kind of stuff that can make lives better and people will remember that.

OK! NEWS CARRIE UNDERWOOD SAYS FIANCE WOULD LOVE HER AT 800 LBS.

The last time Carrie was on Idol Gives Back she performed a George Michael song, but last night Carrie played one of her own.

“Tonight I’m actually doing one of my own and it’s on my latest album. It talks about pocket change, 36 cents, doing good in the world,” Carrie explained. “It talks the smallest thing makes a huge difference. It really fits in with tonight’s concept and just on another note carrying through with that, on my fall tour we’re going to donate 36 cents of every ticket sold to Save the Children, which is a beneficiary of Idol Gives Back. We’re just carrying on after Idol Gives Back.”

Carrie says she’s “definitely” watching this season of Idol even though she has such a busy schedule!

“A lot of times I have shows while American Idol is going on so I learned how to work the Tivo on the bus and I watch Idol after I get offstage,” she said. “I think this year, compared to my year, it seems like people are more laid back a little bit. A lot of people are singing slower songs here and there.”

She really hopes that starts to change!

“I’m kind of wanting someone to really rock out at some point but I don’t know. Every year’s different,” Carrie admitted. “Every year has their own cast of people and it’s always nice to change things up and see what’s going to happen.”

Jeff Beck performed “I Put a Spell on You,” but he isn’t quite sure how he got involved with the show.

“I really wish I knew,” he laughed. “I was asked to join Kelly Clarkson in a song for Idol Gives Back; I think it was a couple of years ago, maybe less. Maybe that’s got something to do with it; who knows? Ask the higher ups.”

So how did he decide on the song?

“Because I thought it was more appropriate than just an instrumental for this program it lends itself to Joss [Stone] singing and me playing,” Jeff explained. “It’s about the most appropriate one on my new album; you’re probably going to run out and buy it.”

Jeff has a unique reason for why he things American Idol is still so popular — It’s a “throwback” to medieval times.

“People love drama; they love show biz. It’s fascinating to watch people humiliated,” Jeff explained. “I suppose it’s a throwback to the medieval times when they used to go and watch people have vegetables thrown at them in the middle of a village square for fun and the Romans used to throw people to the lions. It’s the same thing, isn’t it—with music. Everybody loves it, don’t they?”

As for the Idol Gives Back episode, Jeff also has an interesting notion.

“Well, let’s face it, a massive show like this, if it didn’t participate in some kind of charity there would be something wrong with it, with all the billions,” he stated. “That’s it, really. It’s good that they’re doing it. It would be quite obscene if they didn’t make some kind of gesture.”

OK! NEWS: COURTENEY COX & DAVID ARQUETTE GET FUNNY OVER FOOD

David went to Feeding America with Ellen DeGeneres as part of the show and feels that focusing on American as a whole is important.

“I think it’s important to bring attention to anyone in need. So what I love about Feeding America is that it is a domestic organization that looks after hungry people in America,” he explained to reporters. “A lot of people don’t know there’s 49 million Americans who don’t know where there next meal’s coming from and Feeding America helps to feed 36 million of them but that’s one in six Americans, so that’s our neighbors, seniors living on a fixed income, it really is a community problem.”

“What Feeding America does is they have a network of 203 food banks throughout the United States that work with 60,000 plus pantries, soup kitchens, churches, just community centers to help organize and distribute food to the people that need it, he added.”

Parenthood has partially changed David’s way of looking at the world

“Well, I definitely want my daughter to have an understanding of philanthropy. My mother and my father were very giving and always taught that to us,” he explained. “So it’s really important for her to see that, for her to go to the pantry with me and help pack bags and it’s really just so cute to see her do it.The woman who I work with at my pantry, her name is Delphi, and she loves when my daughter comes and she shows her around. Delphi has been feeding people for more than 30 years so it’s those people who really give me inspiration.”

So how can we help David feed America?

Donations of money are incredible because as you saw in our video, ten dollars can provide Feeding America with 90 pounds of food and what they do is distribute it and they have a really intricate network of food providers and people that are fighting hunger so it makes it so much more efficient,” he explained, but that’s not the only way.

“But also, volunteering,” he added. “Most of the places you go are all volunteers. There’s a couple in there that work day to day and logistically and that’s their career but even they are not getting paid a tremendous amount so it’s volunteering, donating money, raising awareness is a big part because a lot of people don’t know that there’s one in six Americans that don’t know where their next meal is coming from.”
