Both Teresa and Joe remained silent during the five-minute court proceeding held in Newark, NJ, allowing their lawyers to do the talking. A trial date has been set for October 8 by U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, with a pre-trial hearing on October 3.
Teresa’s attorney Henry Klingerman said, “We hope that she’s vindicated and spends no time in jail, but it’s a federal case and there’s always a risk of jail.”
Teresa, known for her extravagant get-ups and love of animals prints, kept her look understated for the court appearance, wearing a neutral pantsuit with her hair piled high in a modest bun.
In July the Real Housewives couple were indicted on 39 counts including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.
Just last weekend Teresa and Joe seemed to put their worries aside while enjoying a getaway to host an Absolutely Fabulous event at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Pangaea Lounge in Hollywood, Florida.
Teresa’s lawyer also confirms the Giudices will appear on the Real Housewives upcoming reunion show despite their current legal battle.
