Billie Eilish! BTS! Ariana! — The 2020 Billboard Music Awards Nominees
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards will air in just a few short weeks, and Billboard announced the nominees for five categories on Tuesday, September 22.
BTS is hoping for their second consecutive win for the top duo/group as they are up against Dan + Shay, Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5 and Panic! At The Disco. If the seven-member South Korean group wins the 2020 award, they'll become the first duo/group to win back-to-back awards since the world-renowned boy band, One Direction, in 2015.

Ariana Grande, 27, is up for her second consecutive win for top female artist, competing against Taylor Swift — who just released her new album, Folklore, on July 24 and won the award in 2013, 2015, and 2018. The other nominees are Billie Eilish — who is nominated 12 times — Halsey and Lizzo. If the 30-year-old 'Shake It Off' singer wins, she'll become the first four-time category winner since the show's relaunch.
Ed Sheeran is competing against DaBaby, Khalid, first-time nominee Lil Nas X — who is up for 13 awards — and Post Malone — who is nominated 16 times in 15 categories — for top male artist of the year. If the red-headed English singer wins again — he took home the category title in 2018 — he'd join Justin Bieber and Drake as the only two-time category winners since the relaunch.

DaBaby, Eilish, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X are nominated for a second award for top new artist, along with Roddy Ricch. If the 'bad guy' singer or 'Good as Hell' singer wins, either would become the first female artist to win this category since Lorde in 2014.
The Five singles that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this year are Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved,' Eilish's 'bad guy,' Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus' 'Old Town Road,' Lizzo’s 'Truth Hurts' and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s 'Señorita.' If Eilish, Lizzo or Mendes/ Cabello win, it would be the first time a female artist as lead or co-lead has won the category since Meghan Trainor took the title in 2015 for 'All About That Bass.'
Of course, some of the nominees couldn't help but get excited on social media. Dan + Shay wrote, "4 @BBMAs nominations!" while Lil Nas X wrote, "13 BILLBOARD AWARD NOMINATIONS!! LETS GOOOO!"
