Dancing with the Stars' Maks Chmerkovskiy has been touting his return to the ballroom this season as his best yet, earning high marks from the judges with celeb partner Meryl Davis on a consistent basis each week. So will the pro dancer agree to come back yet again next season?
That’s the million dollar question," he said with a grin after Monday night's show. "It’s already decided. I’m not telling. I’ll tell you next week. I promise."
As he and Meryl advance to the finals (really, was there ever any doubt?), the pair aren't taking anything for granted.
"It’s not surreal," says the Olympic gold medal-winning ice dancer. "It feels very real to be honest with you. I’ve been saying as an Olympian you never really celebrate until you get to the place you’re looking towards. Of course we’re really excited about our dances tonight. I think we both had an amazing time but we’re already looking to next week."
Next week's freestyle should knock everyone's socks off, although as of last night Maks had no idea what he was going to choreograph. He says by Friday they'll have something special locked in.
And as far as any awkwardness this season having his former celeb dance partner Erin Andrews reporting from the Sky Box while he enjoys his best season ever, Maks says there's none.
"She’s dope," Maks says of Erin. "She’s awesome. That was the thing, how amazing this season is, things I didn’t think were going to work, work so well. I didn’t think Erin and I would work together with her being in the Sky Box. I was kind of curious to see what it would be like. And the way it is is incredible. She’s so funny, she’s amazing and so supportive. She’s been brilliant for the show. I think it was the best thing. Her presence makes me feel like I’ve done something here that stayed."
