Jewel Announces Split from Husband Ty Murray: An "Undoing of Ourselves"

Jewel has taken to her website to announce a split from her husband Ty Murray. The pair have been together for sixteen years, and got married in 2008. They have a son, Kase, who is nearly 3.

In a statement that sounds similar to Gwyneth Paltrow's "conscious uncoupling" declaration, Jewel wrote, "Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together." She continued, "For some time we have been engaged in a private and difficult, but thoughtful and tender undoing of ourselves."

The painful message also contained a declaration from both Ty and Jewel that their dedication to their son is unwavering. Jewel philosophically noted, "We both value growth. And growth became tragically and undeniably stifled as a couple, and we believe we can find it again in setting each other free." If only every break-up could be so civil!
