Britney Spears Criticizes Ryan Seacrest for Questioning Whether She Was a 'Fit Mother' During 2007 Interview
Ryan Seacrest is just one of the countless people Britney Spears calls out in her new memoir.
In the tome, the singer recalled that though a 2007 radio interview with the American Idol host, 48, was supposed to center on her album Blackout, all he did was pester her about her parenting skills.
That same year, the superstar, 41, and ex-husband Kevin Federline settled their divorce and agreed to share custody of their sons, Sean Preston, now 18, and Jayden James, 17.
"Ryan Seacrest asked me questions like ‘How do you respond to those who criticize you as a mom?’ and ‘Do you feel like you’re doing everything you can for your kids?’ and ‘How often will you see them?'" she wrote.
"It felt like that was the only thing people wanted to talk about: whether or not I was a fit mother," the "Circus" crooner continued. "Not about how I’d made such a strong album while holding two babies on my hips and being pursued by dozens of dangerous [paparazzi] all day every day."
These days, the pop star doesn't have the best relationship with her children, who have been living with Federline, 45, for years.
In a 2022 interview, Jayden James said he doesn't "hate" his mom, but it would take "a lot of time and effort" for them to repair their relationship.
"I just want her to get better mentally," he explained. "When she gets better I really want to see her again."
The teen also addressed his mother directly, declaring, "I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again."

In that same TV documentary, Kevin claimed the boys also distanced themselves from the blonde beauty because they were embarrassed by her risqué Instagram photos.
"It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children," she wrote on social media in response. "Only one word: HURTFUL."
Britney hasn't seen her kids in about two years, and it's unlikely that she'll reconnect with them anytime soon since they recently moved to Hawaii with Kevin and his wife, Victoria Prince.
As OK! reported, an insider claimed the boys didn't want to say goodbye to the singer in person.

Despite the tension, the music icon still dedicated her memoir to her offspring, who she called "the love[s] of my life."
