Britney Spears got candid about feeling like she "failed" as a parent in an emotional new post she shared on social media.
The Princess of Pop, 44, posted a lengthy note on her X account on Friday, August 7, alongside a photo of her sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 18.
Britney Spears Said She Felt 'Demoralized' in Her Candid Post
'I wanna tell my kids and people in general that I’m sorry for my mistakes in the past,' Britney Spears wrote.
She first claimed her boys "were secretly taken to a beach by my mom and dad” as young children, before reflecting on the “mistakes” she’s made as a mother as well as her own “demoralizing” relationship with her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears.
“I wondered why I wasn’t a part of their cool secret outings,” the "Toxic" singer penned. “I felt demoralized to live in a country where it was accepted for people like my mom and dad to live secret lives with my children… I honestly went to my knees and cried for two months.”
Britney Spears Looked Back on a Conversation She Had With Her Son About Religion

Britney Spears shares two sons with ex Kevin Federline.
Britney then went on to recall a recent conversation she had with one of her sons, saying “it was all science [and] he didn’t personally believe in God.”
She described feeling upset by the talk and said she "prays every day of my f------ life."
“In that moment I believed I had failed as a mother because I know there is a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven … I’ve been there I’ve felt it … I wanna to tell my kids and people in general that I’m sorry for my mistakes in the past," she admitted.

The pop star said she was 'always so eager to please' when she was younger.
“I used to be unbelievably intelligent and 100 percent I was brainwashed into an ignorant system where every godd--- person took advantage of me,” she said.
“I miss the excitement in my eyes being alive when I was younger, always so eager to please and hungry for life. I was unbelievably passionate about everything," the Crossroads alum stated.
The Pop Star Was Put Under a Conservatorship in 2008

Britney Spears was released from her conservatorship in 2021.
“I never got to be me, the real Spears,” Britney confessed, adding she will never get her younger years back, but was proud of herself for mentioning her pain now “because it’s honestly unbelievably sad.”
The "Womanizer" crooner shares Sean and Jayden with ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she divorced in 2007 after three years of marriage.
In 2008, Britney was placed under a conservatorship by her father following a period of heavy media scrutiny due to her unpredictable public behavior and two involuntary psychiatric hospitalizations.
She was released from the legal agreement in November 2021 after 13 years.
