'Dancing With The Stars' Contestant Cody Rigsby Tests Positive For COVID-19, Days After Partner Cheryl Burke
Dancing With The Stars contestant Cody Rigsby has tested positive for COVID-19.
Rigsby's announcement comes days after his pro partner on DWTS Cheryl Burke tested positive for the virus.
"I have some news that I don't want to be sharing with you, but here it is," the Peloton instructor said in an Instagram video. "I have tested positive for COVID, again, the second time this year."
He said that he had mild symptoms of the virus such as a headache, a cough and congestion. "But in comparison to when I had COVID earlier this year, it is night and day. So that must be the vaccine and the antibodies working, so we're super-grateful for that," he said.
"As far as my fate on Dancing With the Stars, we are still trying to figure that out right now, so please be patient with that answer. And I know what you're thinking: 'Cody, you look so good for having COVID.' That's because I took a shower and did my hair, 'cause ain't no way you are plastering this video all over the internet and I'm gonna look a busted mess," he said.
He told viewers that he was going to "eat all the yummy food that I can right now as I still have my taste buds."
Fans and famous friends sent their love to Rigsby in the comments.
"Sending you some good energy love! XO," fellow DWTS contestant Olivia Jade wrote.

"💔 praying for a speedy recovery," Matt James commented.
"Sending you so much love ❤️," Burke told her partner in the comments.
Late last month, Burke announced that she contracted COVID-19. At the time the model said she felt bad for her partner. "I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s**t to be quite honest, and it’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow," she said on Instagram.
The 37-year-old told E! News' Daily Pop, that she has no idea how she got COVID-19. "All I know is that we've been traveling back and forth from L.A. to New York," she said.
With Burke in quarantine, Rigsby was expected to have a temporary partner for the upcoming episode on October 4. The pair were judged on their rehearsal performance on the September 27 episode and earned 24 points out of 40, Entertainment Weekly noted.
