An investigative report indicates that medical professionals consider President Donald Trump's estimated 23-pound weight gain to be a significant health risk.

The findings, published by The Washington Post Sunday, August 23, come from administrative records and statements from aides.

Post reporter Dan Diamond said the POTUS, 80, weighs 238 pounds, which was 23 pounds heavier than the listed weight of 215 on August 24, 2023, which was when he surrendered and was booked at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Ga., on 13 felony charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

“The president has appeared heavier in photos than he did during his campaign, and the administration said he gained 14 pounds between his most recent annual medical check-ups,” Diamond wrote.

Donald Trump was informed he should 'reduce his waistline.'

“White House physicians have said they’ve advised Trump — who has made little secret of his love for fast food and his distaste for intense exercise — to focus on weight loss, improving his diet and sustained physical activity. Outside doctors put it more directly: 'The 80-year-old president would be safer if he reduced his waistline,'" Diamond continued.

Dr. Scott Kahan, director of the National Center for Weight and Wellness, told the Post that this gain is increasingly dangerous.

The White House Brushed Off the Report

The White House dismissed the concerns by claiming Joe Biden's 'decline' was covered up while in office.

“We know that obesity is a strong risk factor for numerous health issues — as well as premature disability and death. Addressing obesity to protect the president’s health should be a priority similar to ensuring Secret Service protections for his life,” the doctor said.

The White House insolently blew off the reports, telling the Post, “President Trump’s sharpness, unmatched energy, relentless work ethic and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the last administration when Democrats and the legacy media intentionally covered up Joe Biden’s serious mental and physical decline from the American people.”

Several prominent physicians have stated that the elderly president’s weight gain poses a critical risk to his long-term health, function, and longevity.

Donald Trump has reportedly gained more than 20 pounds since 2023.

Former FDA Commissioner Dr. David Kessler noted that excess weight around the midsection suggests high levels of visceral fat.

"Abdominal fat is particularly concerning... The fat gets into organs where it doesn’t belong — the liver, the pancreas, around the heart,” Dr. Kessler said.

Dick Cheney's former cardiologist Jonathan Reiner said the president 'looks unwell.'

Obesity specialist Dr. Gitanjali Srivastava noted that for an 80-year-old patient, body mass index (BMI) is a screening tool, but the primary clinical focus should be on overall body fat percentage, physical function, and metabolic health.

“He looks unwell,” said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a longtime cardiologist for former Vice President Dick Cheney.
