Donald Trump Reveals New Space Force Uniforms Inspired by 'Starship Troopers' Movie

President Donald Trump revealed new uniforms for the United States Space Force on Sunday while claiming that the new designs were inspired by the uniforms worn by intergalactic soldiers in Starship Troopers.

The president took to Truth Social over the weekend to share images of the new black-and-grey outfit designs, highlighting the details on the uniform. The photo also stated that the uniform was “Inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Troopers uniform.”

However, the design was also “Modernized for guardians of the space domain.”

President Trump established the United States Space Force in 2019 during his first term.

He also declared his plans to build a military space academy to train the future aerospace enthusiasts, per New York Post.

“You think of West Point, and you think of Annapolis and you think of the Air Force Academy and you think of the Coast Guard Academy. It’s great. They’re all great, but we’re going to have now a Space Force [academy],” he said.

The newly established Space Force also announced its plans to broaden America's space capabilities while also achieving “space superiority” earlier this year in a manual named Space Warfighting: A Framework for Planners.

According to the USSF, “space superiority” is defined as establishing a certain “degree of control that allows forces to operate at a time and place of their choosing without prohibitive interference from space or counterspace threats, while also denying the same to an adversary.”

The 1997 cult classic film’s director, Paul Verhoeven, previously stated that his idea behind making Starship Troopers was to portray a satirical “fascist utopia.”

The director, who grew up in N----occupied Netherlands close to a German military base, told The Guardian in an interview in 2018, “I decided to make a movie about fascists who aren’t aware of their fascism.”

“I was using Riefenstahl to point out, or so I thought, that these heroes and heroines were straight out of N--- propaganda. No one saw it at the time,” he stated.

“I don’t know whether or not the actors realised – we never discussed it. I thought Neil Patrick Harris arriving on the set in an SS uniform might clear it up,” he added.

He also mocked the character designs in the film, saying that since “it’s an idiotic story” he thought “the human characters should have a comic-book look.”

He also recalled getting away with the intergalactic army’s flag because of the incessant “regime change” taking place at Columbia Pictures at the time.

“When the executives finally saw it, they said: 'Their flag – it’s a N--- flag!’ I said, ‘No…it’s completely different colours,’” he joked.
