Ellen DeGeneres Criticized For Driving Portia De Rossi To The Hospital After Consuming Three 'Weed Drinks'
Ellen DeGeneres is in the hot seat again! The 63-year-old admitted that she had consumed three "weed drinks" and took an over-the-counter sleep aid before she drove her wife, Portia de Rossi, to the hospital last month.
DeGeneres admitted that what she did was "probably not safe" to Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday, April 20, during a marijuana-themed episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"And I’m laying in bed, and I realize [Portia’s] not in bed," DeGeneres explained of finding de Rossi in the bathroom.
"She’s moaning. I get out of bed, and she’s on the ground on all fours, and I said, 'You’re not OK.' She goes, 'I’m OK.' I said, 'No, unless you’re playing Twister by yourself, you’re not OK.' So I rushed her to the emergency room."
However, DeGeneres said it probably wasn't "safe," considering what she had before bed. "Chelsea Handler told me about these weed drinks, they’re called Cann, and they have CBD or [THC] — I don’t know what the good thing is," she explained.
"I drank one, and I didn’t feel anything, so I drank three, and then I took two melatonin sleep pills," DeGeneres said. "I shouldn’t be saying any of this," the Finding Dory star admitted but said her "adrenaline" kicked in when she saw her wife was in pain.

DeGeneres' admission didn't go over well with fans. "Please @TheEllenShow don’t joke about your irresponsibility. Use your platform to educate people about the dangers of impaired driving, difference between #THC & #CBD and the delayed effects of any kind of marijuana edible," one user said.
"Its so irresponsible of Ellen to tell the world she drove under the influence of marijuana. I almost died because someone smoked pot and drove into me," a second user wrote, while a third asked: "They couldn't afford an ambulance?"
The Arrested Development actress suffered from appendicitis and had emergency surgery to remove her appendix but due to COVID-19 restrictions, DeGeneres said they "sent me home and I'm crying."
"I am happy to report Portia is feeling much better now. She's home. She came home late yesterday," but "not all of her," DeGeneres updated her viewers last month.
"She left her appendix at the hospital. I'm going to auction off the appendix for charity. I'm kidding, it's gonna go on eBay," the talk show host joked.
