Soccer superstar Erling Haaland traded his signature long hair for a bold buzz cut.
Haaland explained his decision in a Sunday, August 23, YouTube video, saying, "This beautiful blonde hair, time to let it go."
The Manchester City star, 26, continued, "I was thinking about doing this straight after the World Cup, but I was so busy so I didn’t do it. [The] season starts now, so it’s time to get a fresh start and everything."

Erling Haaland revealed Zlatan Ibrahimović's advice before choosing a short Viking-inspired buzz cut.
Before committing to the cut, Haaland revealed that former Swedish soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović offered him some memorable advice.
"The only thing is, Zlatan told me never cut your hair because your strength is in your hair. I’m a bit nervous," he said.
"I want [a] buzzcut, like I’ve been in the military," he added.
Haaland then showed inspiration photos on his phone as he considered just how short he wanted the new style.
"The vikings, they go short as well," Haaland said.

As the transformation continued, Haaland noticed the resemblance between his changing hairstyle and a familiar movie character.
"I look like Kevin from Home Alone with this haircut," he said.
The Norwegian footballer also looked ahead to his next appearance in front of fans and imagined their reaction to the dramatic change.
"I can’t wait for the fans to sing, 'Who the f------ h--- is that?'" Haaland joked.
He added, "I want Man[chester] City fans to sing that tomorrow."

Once the haircut was complete, Haaland showed off the finished look to his girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, who reacted with surprise.
"Oh my g--," Johansen said, placing her hands over her face.
"It looks nice … I think you look really tough. I will wake up in the morning and I’ll be like, 'Who’s that?'" she continued.

Haaland shared the transformation with teammates Jack Grealish and Ibrahimović.
"OK guys, that was it. Please let me know what you think about my new hairstyle. Should I [have any] regret? No. No, regrets. Never. But remember, the Vikings always cut it short," he told the camera before giving a peace sign.
Haaland also documented it all on Instagram, sharing several photos showing the different stages of the haircut.
He captioned the post, "Short hair don’t care," and added in another Instagram video, "New season, new trim."
