Is There Trouble Brewing Between Alec & Hilaria Baldwin? 'The Situation On The Homefront Is Becoming Unbearable,' Spills Insider

Happy new year? Not so much for Alec and Hilaria Baldwin. After Hilaria, 37, was brought under social-media fire last month for years of fabricating Spanish roots — and even speaking with an accent, despite her Boston upbringing — OK! sources are now reporting that the parents of five are living separate lives. 

Alec, 62, has offered a handy excuse, claiming he's been safely quarantining away from the family Hamptons estate — where Hilaria and their five young kids reside — because of back-and-forth travels to Manhattan for work.

But an insider can't help but wonder if there's something more to the story. 

"This is terrible timing and causing a lot of whispers in their social circle," says OK!'s insider. "Publicly, they're telling everyone it has to be done because Alec won't take any risks in potentially exposing the family to COVID. But it's caused a lot of stress, not least because Hilaria needs him to help with the kids. She totally understands that Alec has his work to do, but she'd appreciate if he pressed pause on some of these projects and moved back in."

With five children (Carmen, 7, Rafael, 5, Leonardo, 4, Romeo, 2, and Eduardo, 4 months) "Hilaria is already stretched so thin," says an insider. "She needs all the help she can get."

Though the 30 Rock alum was quick to come to Hilaria's defense after her scandal broke — even posting a lengthy video in which he called the claims against his wife of eight years "ridiculous" — he's been actively absent "during the toughest period of her life, bar none" spills the insider. "Hilaria's really needed him around for moral support." 

But while Alec "is incredibly protective of his family," notes the insider, "he's also a guy who lives and breathes for his work." And given the pressure his family's been under, there's buzz that the Looming Tower star's absence may have strained his marriage.

"The situation on the homefront is becoming unbearable, emotionally as well as practically," spills the insider. And with the actor's $60 million fortune at stake, adds the insider, "no one wants to see Alec and Hilaria get divorced."
