Ben Affleck has apparently been on a mission to reunite with ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez for months. New reports are surfacing that the former flames have been in private communication since February — while she was still engaged to Alex Rodriguez.

Sources are revealing that Affleck and Lopez were “in regular contact by email” while she was in the Dominican Republican shooting the film Shotgun Wedding — and they weren’t just friendly emails… instead, insiders said the Batman star was longing for his lost love. (OK! was the first to exclusively reveal that the pair had been in private contact amid the decline of Lopez's relationship with Rodriguez.)

A source claimed that after Affleck saw snaps of Lopez down in the D.R., he wrote to her to “tell her how beautiful she looked” and how he “wished he could be down there with her.” (Affleck was in Boston filming The Tender Bar with pal George Clooney at the time.)

The insider added that the emails “referenced J.Lo’s love for Ben’s writing” and included a specific quote about him being able to “own her heart” with his words. The duo reportedly kept in secret contact until Lopez wrapped filming in late April — then wasted no time seeing each other in person after she got back to Los Angeles.

OK! previously spilled that Affleck was spotted multiple times secretly visiting the “If You Had My Love” singer at her house during the day. The actor — who shares three children with ex Jennifer Garner — was snapped being picked up in a white Escalade SUV, which apparently belongs to J.Lo, before being escorted to her mansion.

Trying to keep things on the down-low, a source spilled: "Security picks [Affleck] up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.”

No longer hiding their reunion, OK! learned the two went on a romantic getaway to Montana last week. The pair was seen riding in a car together near a resort in Big Sky, where the Pearl Harbor actor has a home. "[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town,” a source dished, adding the two “have a strong connection. It's all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy."

The source added that the exes were later spotted arriving back in L.A. on Saturday, May 8, via a private jet.

Although Bennifer is keeping a tight lip on their current relationship status, one person who would love to see the exes rekindle their romance is Affleck’s childhood friend: Matt Damon. The A-lister popped by TODAY on Tuesday, May 11, and was pressed by hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on what he thought of his pal spending time again with the singer he was engaged to nearly two decades ago.

Damon tried to remain coy about his friend’s relationship with Lopez, but did say that he loves “them both” and would be ecstatic to see the duo get back together. “I hope it’s true. That would be awesome,” he concluded.

TMZ was the first to report on Affleck's February emails.
