Speaking her truth! Jessica Simpson is reflecting on her divorce from former boybander Nick Lachey in additions to her explosive 2020 memoir, Open Book, which is out in a new paperback edition — featuring a new introduction and diary entries — on Tuesday, March 23.
Simpson details that she was “saddened beyond belief” when she learned of her ex-husband’s new relationship with Vanessa Lachey, formerly Minnillo, mere months after the former flames called it quits.
“So, Nick, you’re with another already? Seems that you forgot the love you spoke to me,” she wrote in a diary passage, according to ET, adding that she was “alone in the dark, with no one to call my own” after their notorious split.
The Dukes of Hazzard star married Nick in October 2002. The pop stars called it quits after three years of marriage, and three seasons of their wildly popular reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, in 2005.
Vanessa and Nick got engaged in November 2010 and tied the knot eight months later. The two share three beautiful children together — son Camden, 8, daughter Brooklyn, 6, and son Phoenix, 5.

As for Simpson, she married NFL star Eric Johnson in 2014, and they share three children as well: Maxwell, 8, Ace, 7, and Birdie, 2.
As OK! previously reported, after the success of the initial launch of her memoir Open Book, the singer announced in December that she's now set to bring her shocking story to the small screen. While the fashion mogul has yet to announce any more details, it's safe to say that the series will delve into some heavy topics that were touched upon in her book, including childhood abuse, alcohol addiction and body image issues.
In the bestseller, the “Take My Breath Away” songstress revealed that she had been sexually abused from ages 6-12 by someone she knew very well. “The daughter of a family friend was abusing me when my parents brought us for overnight stays,” she explained. “After lights out, I would feel her hands on me. It would start with tickling my back and then going into things that were extremely uncomfortable.”
Simpson also doesn’t plan to hold back when it comes to her whirlwind romance with singer John Mayer, who she says brought out all her insecurities. "Jess is going to tell all,” a source dished to OK!. “John didn’t do right by Jessica. He thought he was smarter and treated her like a dumb blonde — now that dumb blonde has a multimillion-dollar deal with Amazon."
