Amber Heard detailed an alleged attack at the hands of Johnny Depp that apparently left her with a bloody lip, but when her lawyers tried to prove the injury with a photo, the actor's attorneys were quick to point out the snap didn't line up with the timing of her allegations.

During Heard's testimony last week in the $50 million defamation lawsuit brought against her by Depp, 58, she claimed the Pirates of the Caribbean star struck her in the mouth during a squabble, alleging: "I was in one of these fights, I believe it's this one, in his downtown ECB, we call it, loft, and we're in the kitchen living room area and he backhands me," per TMZ.

"And, you know, it was, you know, he wears a lot of rings. I remember kind of just feeling like my lip went into my teeth, and it got a little blood on the wall," Heard continued of the alleged altercation. "Just that simple, a little bit of blood on the wall."

The outlet obtained the photo Heard, 36, took after she was allegedly struck showing her with a cut on her lip, as she appeared to be subtly smirking. Heard also held up a note that read "I shall return xxx," which she claimed Depp left behind.

This was the same photo Heard's team wanted to show the jury, it was reported, but Depp's lawyers objected arguing they didn't submit it during the discovery phase of the case. The judge sided with Depp's team, so the photo was never introduced into evidence.

Nevertheless, Depp's team still commented on the photo noting to the outlet that it was from 2012, but according to Heard's witness statement in the U.K. defamation case, the first violent incident between the former spouses didn't occur until 2013, a year after the alleged bloody photo was taken.

(Depp sued The Sun's publisher for libel in the U.K. over a headline calling him a "wife beater" regarding his relationship with Heard. He lost the case in November 2020, with the judge ruling that the defendants proved what was in the article to be "substantially true.")

On the other hand, a source close to Heard insisted she simply messed up her dates in the U.K. case, and her therapy records show the alleged abuse from Depp began in early 2012, making the timeline of Heard's recent claims correct.

This was just one of the countless claims of abuse Heard accused her ex-husband of, while Depp has also made his fair share of claims against the actress.

Apart from going head-to-head in court, Depp and Heard are also facing off outside of the trial. The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star's reps have slammed Heard for "giving the performance of her life" after taking the stand to give her testimony, insisting her allegations have evolved with "new and convenient details" over the years.

In response, Heard's team trolled Depp and his lawyers for "fighting tooth and nail to prevent compelling evidence and photos from being introduced." They also criticized Depp for not having the "courage" to pay attention during his ex's testimony or even look her in the eye, instead choosing to "doodle" and "snicker" throughout the court proceedings.

The case is in recess until Monday, May 16, when Heard will return to the stand.
