'Humiliated' Joseph Duggar's Secret Prison Letters to Family Exposed as Disgraced Star 'Embarrassed' by Child Molestation Arrest

Joseph Duggar is remorseful for his behavior.

According to a Wednesday, April 1, report from Daily Mail, the reality star, 31, sent letters to his family members begging for forgiveness following his arrest on March 18 for child molestation.

In the letters, Duggar, who is accused of sexually exploiting a 9-year-old in Florida in 2020, reportedly admitted he’s “humiliated and embarrassed” over his actions.

The 19 Kids and Counting alum’s brother, Josh Duggar, is also behind bars after being charged for receiving and processing material corresponding to child sexual abuse.

Joseph sent letters to several individual relatives apologizing for “dragging the family name through the mud once again.”

Daily Mail reported that the TV star “knows that some of” his family members do not want “to talk to him.” However, one of the letters was reportedly sent to Josh, who is at FCI Seagoville federal prison in Texas.

“From what I understand, Joe is needing someone to talk to,” a source spilled to the outlet. “And Josh is definitely the person who has been in his shoes before.”

The insider added, “[In the letters,] he says he has brought shame on everyone and he's ashamed of himself. He knows that some of us don't want to talk to him right now. The number of people Joseph has hurt is astronomical. Obviously, no one as much as that little girl, but just everyone is dealing with the fallout of this - Kendra, his kids, his entire family. This is horrifying and honestly we did deserve the apology.”

Joseph was arrested in Arkansas before being transferred to Florida. He appeared in court there to plead not guilty, and a judge released him on a $600,000 bond. As he awaits his fate, he is not allowed to contact the victim or have any unsupervised contact with minors, including his children.

A few days after he was arrested, his wife, Kendra, was also cuffed and charged with four second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four second-degree counts of false imprisonment. She was released less than a day after her arrest on a $1,470 bond.

"After [Joseph's] charge, they automatically do a home study if minors live there," a source told Us Weekly on March 21. "Apparently, they had two rooms where the lock of the doorknob was on the outside instead of inside. They arrested her and took her kids for that, saying it's evidence that she wrongly detains her kids."

The Bay County Sheriff's Office previously detailed Joseph’s salacious behavior from his trip to Panama City Beach, Fla., in 2020.

“As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit next to him on a couch and covered them with a blanket. During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs," authorities disclosed. "The victim stated Duggar eventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped after the apology.”
