'Everyone Knew But Me': Kehlani Comes Out As A Lesbian
Coming out. Kehlani has revealed that she's a lesbian.
The 26-year-old made the announcement in a since-deleted TikTok on Friday, April 23, which was captured by Pop Crave.
"I'm just gonna f**king say it, because everybody keeps bringing it up to me," they started the video.
"I finally know I'm a lesbian," she said. "I am gay, g-gay, gay."
However, not all of their close family and friends were surprised by the news; when the "Good Thing" singer "want[ed] to have these heart-to-hearts with my family and my friends," they already knew.
"I'm like, 'Guys, I finally know that I'm gay — like, I'm gay gay,' and they're like, 'We know. Duh, stupid. Duh,'" she joked.
"I feel like, No. I want you to fall on the floor and be like, 'Congratulations! We had no idea!'" they explained. "Everyone's just like, 'Duh. You're the only one who didn't f**king know. The f**king closet was glass.'"
"So I guess I just wanted y'all to know that everyone knew but me," she concluded the video.

Kehlani's fans were quick to send their love to the "Nights Like This" crooner.
"Yknow when Kehlani said she wish people wouldnt be like 'duh' when she came out as lesbian i kinds feel for her. Yea it may have been obvious but self discovery is a journey and its a beautiful thing to finally understand yourself and that should be celebrated," one fan noted.
"Can people acknowledge that kehlani saying that she’s a lesbian was for herself and not for anyone to say, 'we knew.' it’s pretty dismissive regardless of her previously identifying as queer in the past. she confirmed she’s a lesbian and she looks happy asf," a second fan added.
"Whole time I’ve listened to Kehlani she identified herself as bisexual & queer, and she just came out as a lesbian and I’m happy as hell for her. Discovering her true identity must have brought her so much peace," a third fan dded.
Kehlani previously said she never "identified as a lesbian" during an Instagram Live, but has been out as queer for sometime.
"I felt gay always insisted there was still a line drawn as to which 'label' of human I was attracted when I really just be walking around thinking ERRYBODY FINE," Kehlani previously wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
Kehlani admitted to the Advocate that they have a lot of privilege because she is a "cisgender-presenting, straight-presenting" person which helped her at the beginning of her career.
"I think a lot of artists who we talk about and say, 'Oh, they had to come out or they had to do this,' a lot of them can’t hide it. A lot of it is very [much] in how they present. It’s tougher for them. It’s tougher for trans artists. It’s tougher for Black gay men. It’s tougher for Black masculine gay women," she continued.
"I don’t walk down the street and people look at me and go, 'Oh, I bet she’s queer. Or I bet that she’s into women' or anything like that because of the way I present," she added.
