Living Large! Newly Single Kim Kardashian Officially Reaches Billionaire Status
Ka$hing in! As Kim Kardashian’s divorce battle with Kanye West rages on, the reality TV star has something to celebrate — she has officially been named a billionaire.
Kardashian was included on the World’s Billionaires list for the time, Forbes announced on Tuesday, April 6. Her majority of cash comes from her two lucrative businesses — KKW Beauty and fashion empire SKIMS — as well as her many years on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and endorsement deals.
The 40-year-old influencer saw her net worth increase from $780 million in October to $1 billion, putting her into billionaire status.
Following in her sister Kylie Jenner’s famous footsteps, Kardashian launched her own skincare line, KKW Beauty in 2017. “It’s the first time I’ve moved away from having licensing deals and transitioned into being an owner,” she told Forbes at the time, when she announced her cosmetics line.
Kardashian went on to sell 20 percent of KKW Beauty to Coty Inc. for $200 million in 2020 (Jenner, who previously had a little disagreement with Forbes over her status as a billionaire, made a sizable profit selling 51 percent of Kylie Cosmetics to Coty as well.)
As OK! previously reported, Kardashian's estranged husband, West, was named a billionaire in April 2020 — with a reported net worth of around $6.6 billion, thanks to his successful partnerships with Adidas AG and Gap Inc.
Rumors of Kardashian and West's “imminent” divorce began swirling early January this year, before Kardashian officially filed papers on February 19 to end her six-year marriage to the controversial rapper.
After living separate lives for months and quitting couples therapy, it was reportedly Kardashian's decision to divorce West. The former couple will now have to figure out the logistics of taking care of their four children: North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 21 months. Their prenup arrangement has nothing to say about the kids' custody, and the battle will — most likely — go to the courts for a resolution.
Kardashian may need to keep an eye on her cash, although her divorce from the “Gold Digger” rapper isn’t finalized, OK! learned the brunette beauty has been inundated with offers from eligible bachelors who want to date her — leaving many of her friends worried that not every guy looking to catch the eye of the KUWTK star has her best intentions at heart.
“Kim has been one of the most famous women in the world for over a decade. She knows when someone is trying to use her to get famous themselves,” a friend exclusively dished to OK!, adding: “Don’t worry about Kim. She might have three divorces behind her, but she is an excellent judge of character.”
