Lara Trump Defends Checking Her Watch at Lindsey Graham's Funeral: 'Get Over Yourselves'

Lara Trump vehemently defended checking her watch during Sen. Lindsey Graham’s funeral, stating she was responding to a potential family emergency involving her children.

During a YouTube broadcast, she strongly pushed back against critics, telling them to "get over yourselves," and explained that she was actually checking notifications regarding her kids' summer camp.

She stated that her two children, Luke and Carolina, were attending a camp in New York at the time and that she received multiple unexpected phone calls from the camp during the service.

The aspiring pop star argued that she did what "any parent would do" by checking her wrist to ensure her children were safe and to determine if she needed to leave the funeral physically.

"The only thing you'll see is 'Lara Trump checks her watch'. Like I'm checking the time. Get over yourself. We were there for over two hours. We will always make mistakes for the lunatics out there,” Eric Trump’s wife said.

She criticized the online framing of the clip, stating it proved how easily online narratives are "manipulated" and dismissed her detractors as "lunatics" looking for a mistake.

She confirmed that while there was a minor situation at the camp, both of her children are fine.

"On my Apple Watch, I started getting phone calls from the camp that my kids go to. Any parent knows that's not good. So I did what any parent would do, and I tried to very discreetly inquire what was going on,” she insisted.

While attending Lindsey’s funeral at the Washington National Cathedral, Lara was caught on a live-streamed video checking her Apple Watch. Her husband, Eric, was filmed glancing at her right after, which online critics interpreted as mutual frustration or boredom.

During an appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” Lara sparked a heavy online debate by explicitly criticizing contemporary emotional-validation parenting trends.

She explicitly stated, "I hate gentle parenting. I am not a gentle parent at all. Total b------. Not a fan.”

She expressed concern over how children raised under highly permissive models will turn out, stating, "Come back to me in 20 years and tell me how that kid turns out. I’m really worried for you.”
