The MAGA media universe is starting to look less like a unified machine and more like a messy group chat with falling engagement.

A New York Times analysis of audience data across podcasts, YouTube, X and Rumble found that several major right-wing creators have lost momentum since President Donald Trump returned to office.

The shift comes as conservative media figures split over Trump’s war in Iran, the Epstein files, inflation and the direction of the movement ahead of the midterms.

Benny Johnson's YouTube channel reportedly lost millions of views.

The Times reviewed several years of data for 12 conservative political creators, including Benny Johnson, Dan Bongino, Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, Steven Crowder, Matt Walsh, Candace Owens, Steve Bannon, Nicholas Fuentes, Ben Shapiro, Tim Pool and Charlie Kirk’s accounts, which were taken over by Turning Point USA staff after Kirk’s assassination last September.

Johnson’s YouTube channel has reportedly fallen by millions of views from its 2024 highs, while Bongino’s livestream audience has dropped to roughly half its peak.

When Outrage Gets Harder

Candace Owens shifted beyond pro-Donald Trump content, gaining attention with conspiracy-driven narratives.

The downturn is not uniform. Some creators pointed to strength on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Rumble or podcasts, and election-year view spikes were always likely to cool after 2024.

But the broader problem is political as much as algorithmic. It is harder to fuel anti-establishment fury when Republicans control Washington. Meanwhile, newer online voices are pulling attention by mixing politics with gaming, relationships and other nontraditional topics.

Owens has found fresh attention by moving beyond standard Trump boosterism into conspiracy-driven narratives, including claims about Kirk’s killing.

Dave Rubin warned that a Democratic midterm sweep could trigger infighting within the MAGA circle.

Conservative influencer Dave Rubin sounded the alarm during an appearance on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, warning that a Democratic midterm sweep could unleash “completely bananas” infighting on the MAGA right.

“It’s going to be complete chaos,” Rubin said.

Rubin argued that Trump’s remaining term could effectively be derailed if Democrats take Congress.

“He may only have three months left,” Rubin said, before predicting, “The process to end these last 10 years of MAGA and everything that has happened since 2015 will begin.”
