Marjorie Taylor Greene Jokes About Mitch McConnell's Health Saga: 'We Don't Know If He's Dead or Alive'

Marjorie Taylor Greene defended herself against being called a traitor by throwing a brutal dig toward Mitch McConnell.

While addressing her "very public breakup" with Donald Trump, Greene, 52, spoke out about him labeling her as a "traitor" last November and defended her vocal opposition to several of his policies.

"Yeah, he means a traitor to him," Greene explained during an appearance on The Firing Line with Margaret Hoover on Saturday, August 29. "So, the president demands loyalty, but my loyalty does not belong to Donald Trump. And so, yeah, he called me a traitor and it did not hurt me one single bit. As a matter of fact, I have people thank me every single day in public for standing up the way that I did."

Greene was previously a staunch supporter of Trump, 80, but the two fell out primarily over her push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, ultimately leading to her resignation from Congress in January.

She went on to include a direct jab at the 84-year-old senator, adding, "And I never went to Washington to cling the power until I’m dead or alive, like Mitch McConnell. We don’t even know!"

Greene ended her rant by saying she "never wanted a full career" on Capitol Hill, adding, "I only wanted to make a difference."

As OK! previously reported, McConnell – who is the longest-serving senator in Kentucky history – was hospitalized after being found "unconscious" inside of his Washington, D.C., home on June 14.

Reports initially described the situation as a cardiac emergency, with paramedics performing CPR, before he was transferred to a nearby hospital.

After weeks of speculation about his health, the Kentucky Republican addressed the medical emergency, saying he became "briefly unconscious" after a fall and "submitted to every test" to "figure out what caused the incident."

"Last month, I took a fall which landed me in the hospital," he said in a written statement. "My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia."

He explained that surviving childhood polio meant living the rest of his life with "mobility changes," admitting that his condition didn't get "easier to manage with age."

The lawmaker was released from rehab earlier this month nearly two months after the accident.

McConnell said he would be continuing his recovery at home, adding, "I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business."
