Michelle Obama Says Megan Thee Stallion's 'Sass' Reminds Her of Daughter Sasha: 'Your Energy Is So Familiar'

Michelle Obama confessed that Megan Thee Stallion reminds her of someone very close to home.

The former first lady interviewed the rapper on the Wednesday, August 12, episode of her "IMO" podcast, which she hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson.

"You remind me of Sasha, my youngest," Michelle told Megan. "You and Sasha have similar sass levels."

The "Savage" singer seemed pleased by the comparison, immediately responding, "I love that."

Michelle shares two adult daughters with former president Barack Obama: Malia, 28, and her "sassy" younger sister, 25.

The author elaborated that Megan's energy felt very recognizable to her, in a way that made her embrace the rapper almost as if she was a member of her family.

"She's just all up in it," Michelle joked about her daughter. "But your energy is just so familiar. It's like family."

"I feel the same way," Megan smiled back.

Megan went on to reveal she had actually spent time with Sasha in New York City a few years prior.

"I feel like I hung out with Sasha after my Saturday Night Live performance," she recalled. "I was like, 'This is the secret service.'"

The artist assured Michelle that she made sure Sasha was well cared for at the late-night after-party.

"I definitely wrapped her around and made my security be all around," she added as Michelle laughed. "I was like, 'Hold on, y'all, we've got the president's daughter in here.'"

According to Hello!, Sasha now resides in Los Angeles, Calif., with her older sister.

She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in sociology in 2023, but in 2025, her mother revealed that the former president's daughter had returned to school.

"Sasha is in school, Malia has a budding career in film," Michelle said on The Jennifer Hudson Show. "They are smart, they're funny, they're wise in their own ways and I love spending time with them."

During the episode, Michelle also revealed a sweet Mother's Day surprise her daughters gave her earlier this year.

"I just, for the first time, drove in a car with my daughters by ourselves [and no Secret Service]," the author told Megan. "That was their Mother's Day gift for me, and I could cry, right? Because they don't live in a bubble, as you've seen."

"But for my Mother's Day gift, I was in L.A., and we were going to go to Palm Springs," she continued. "So, they surprised me and arranged for me to ride in the car with them. So, Sasha drove, and Malia was in the back. They were taught well, but I had never experienced that. So that is like freedom."
