Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Playing 'Games' After Divorce: Source

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are reportedly keeping each other guessing as they navigate life after their divorce.

The former couple is said to be taking a careful approach to their personal lives, with neither one eager to become the first to publicly step out with someone new. According to a source, Urban has been especially cautious after facing backlash over speculation about his love life following the split.

"It's become this cat-and-mouse game because Keith does not want to be the one who goes public with someone before Nicole does. He took such a beating when people started linking him to other women after the split. It was horrible," the insider told RadarOnline.com.

The source said Urban has also been mindful of how the public might perceive him if he appears to move on too quickly.

"It's no wonder he's been afraid to let anything about his private life get out. He doesn't want to be seen as this huge villain. It's pretty similar to what Nicole's been doing herself, keeping everyone guessing while she quietly gets on with her life,” they added.

As OK! previously reported, Urban faced intense criticism after he was linked to his guitarist Maggie Baugh in October 2025, just one month after Kidman filed for divorce.

The speculation also spilled over into reactions to Urban's performances, with some fans criticizing the country singer's recent onstage behavior when he sang a song originally dedicated to Kidman to Baugh.

“That’s just disgusting. Nicole deserves much better," one social media user declared, as another admitted, "It is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick."

Another person expressed disappointment in the singer, writing, "I am no longer a Keith Urban fan. Everything and what he stood for is a lie. He should be ashamed of himself. Poor daughters."

Kidman, meanwhile, has faced a different kind of public reaction after being spotted with private equity businessman Michael Reinstein during a trip to Portofino, Italy.

According to a news outlet, the reports have reportedly been difficult for Urban to process as speculation about Kidman's personal life continues.

The country star is said to have held onto some hope that he and Kidman could eventually find their way back to each other.

“Up until now, the door had been firmly closed on his relationship with Nicole,” the insider alleged. “But now he still had hopes there might be a chance at reconciliation. He's absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again.”

Still, the source claimed Urban knows he cannot stay stuck in the past forever. With Kidman seemingly entering a new chapter, Urban may also feel more comfortable finding new love.

“Seeing Nicole seemingly moving on is permitting him to do the same,” the insider added. “Don't be surprised if Keith steps out with a 'revenge romance' of his own.”
