President Joe Biden Remembers Son Beau Biden On Sixth Anniversary
President Joe Biden is remembering his late son Beau Biden.
Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden remembered Beau on the sixth anniversary of his death by visiting St. Joseph's church in Wilmington, Del., on Sunday, May 30. They were joined by their daughter Ashley and Beau's son Hunter.
The church is Beau's burial site. Beau passed away of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.
"As many of you know this is a hard day for us. Six years ago today, Hunter lost his dad and I lost my son," Biden said. "If he were here, he would be here as well paying his respects to all those who gave so much for our country."
"A lot of time passes, but you all know as well as I do that the moment that we celebrate it is the toughest day of the year. We're honored but it's a tough day. Brings back everything. So I can't thank you enough for your continued service to the country," he added.
"Your sons, your daughters, they live in your hearts and in their children as well. Thank you for allowing us to grieve together today," the President concluded.
Biden also mentioned Beau again on Friday, May 28, ahead of memorial day.

Beau temporarily gave up his attorney general seat in 2008 to join the Delaware National Guard unit in Iraq, which the President said was "the proudest thing he ever did."
"He spent a year in Iraq. And it was — it was one of the great honors of his life to do it. Won the Bronze Star, the Conspicuous Service Medal, and other awards — like many of you have — but he never, ever talked about it," Biden explained.
"I shouldn't be talking so much about my son, but I'm not going to apologize for it," he continued. "He's like a lot of you. You do your duty. You don't expect anything for it except be a little — have — get a little respect. It deserves so much more. You deserve so much more," he added.
Meanwhile, Biden's other son, Hunter, is under investigation for his "tax affairs" regarding alleged business dealings with China.
"I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors," Hunter said in December.
Biden shared Hunter and Beau with his first wife Neilia Hunter Biden who lost her life in a 1972 car crash along with their young daughter, Naomi.
