Taylor Frankie Paul Reveals She Was Hospitalized at 19 After 'First and Last Time' She Attempted Suicide: 'Big Reason I'm a Firm Believer in Christ'

Taylor Frankie Paul revealed that she was hospitalized at 19 after trying to end her own life.

Paul, 32, opened up about her past mental health struggles on August 30 in an emotional Instagram post amid ongoing legal troubles ahead of Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

"My first and last time I attempted to take my own life was at age 19," she shared. "Woke up in the hospital, and this specific incident is a big reason I'm a firm believer in Christ."

Paul shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed, seemingly following the attempt at her own life more than a decade prior.

"Also a big reason I'm constantly advocating for mental health," she added. "I finally let a lot go and next is telling my family they also have to let that version of me they've held on to go."

In June, Paul completed a stay at a rehabilitation facility "on the advice of her mental health team" and revealed she had recently been prescribed antidepressants.

"I believe I was pulled out for a bit to catch my breath, shift and redirect for what's to come," she added in her post.

While Paul is reportedly set to return for Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, her season of The Bachelorette was pulled after video footage from 2023 allegedly showed her physically abusing her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

The social media star completed probation for a third-degree felony count of aggravated assault in relation to the incident in 2026. Paul has since been embroiled in a legal battle with Mortensen for custody and visitation rights of their son, Ever.

"Name one time I’ve cried," she added in the caption of her candid social media post. "If you think you know me at all, just know it’s surface level to what I have yet to share."

Paul explained that she wanted to share her past struggles in honor of Suicide Awareness Month beginning in September.

"This is just one of many I’ve never shared before," she concluded. "But here we are in honor of suicide awareness month starting in September."

Commenters poured in with messages of love and support for Paul, thanking her for opening up about her mental health on such a global scale.
