The White House was busted for sloppy spin control after social media sleuths noticed they tried to cover up booing during President Donald Trump's visit to the Kennedy Center premiere of the musical Chicago.

The president and his wife, Melania (whom conspiracy theorists insisted was a body double), attended the Tuesday, March 31, performance and were loudly booed by the sparse audience.

The White House claimed unanimous applause via its official “Rapid Response 47” X account. Still, social media pounced on that claim, debunking the narrative of a purely positive reception by sharing unedited footage of the event that featured audible boos and jeers from the crowd.

Daily Caller couldn’t ignore the boos either, with reporter Reagan Reese admitting that “President Trump enters the Kennedy Center to loud cheers. Some boos, but the crowd drowned them out with more cheers.”

“The audience wasn’t so happy to see the Trumps. Donald and Melania Trump were booed during an appearance at the Kennedy Center. Some people never learn they are NOT the center of the universe,” noted another.

The New Republic agreed, writing, “Trump Booed at Kennedy Center Despite His Attempts to Overhaul It.

The White House tried to cover up the booing.

Even Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok confirmed the booing, replying, “The video shows Donald and Melania Trump being booed at the Kennedy Center on the evening of March 31, 2026, during the premiere of the musical Chicago.”

“Speaking with words he can understand, Trump got booed bigly. There has never been anyone in the history of the world who deserved it more,” posted another.

This visit occurred shortly before the center's controversial planned two-year closure, starting in July 2026, for extensive renovations, which critics say was a ruse to cover the fact that the center has hemorrhaged profits and talent since Donald’s remaking and renaming of the living memorial to President John F. Kennedy.

Since returning to office in January 2025, Donald has overhauled the center's leadership, appointing a new board of trustees and naming himself chairman.

This isn't the first time the president was booed at the center.

The president has been booed in the past.

During the opening of Les Misérables, Donald was met with a similarly divided response of boos, cheers, and "USA" chants in July 2025.

That same night, a group of drag performers sat beneath the presidential box to protest Donald’s vow to eliminate "woke" performances at the center.

"Donald Trump getting booed at the Kennedy Center made my night," quipped a theatergoer.
