Will Smith Admits He 'Fell In Love' With Costar Stockard Channing During 'Six Degrees Of Separation' Filming Despite Being Married
Art imitating life!
Will Smith is getting candid in his upcoming memoir, Will, spilling he “fell in love” with his Six Degrees of Separation costar Stockard Channing while the two were filming. The duo worked together in 1993 on the hit movie also starring Donald Sutherland and Sir Ian McKellen.
During that time the King Richard actor was married to his first wife Sheree Zampino. The duo wed in 1992 and called it quits three years later. The former flames share 28-year-old son Trey together.
Although his feelings for Channing grew while the two were spending a lot of time together filming, they kept things professional.
“Sheree and I were in the first few months of our marriage with a brand-new baby and for Sheree, I can imagine that this experience was unsettling to say the least,” Smith wrote in his memoir, which was excerpted by JustJared. “She'd married a guy named Will Smith and now she was living with a guy named Paul Poitier [his character's name in the movie] and to make matters worse, during shooting I fell in love with Stockard Channing.”
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum continued, “After the film wrapped, Sheree and Trey and I moved back to L.A. Our marriage was off to a rocky start. I found myself desperately yearning to see and speak to Stockard.”

Smith previously spoke about his crush on Channing, 77, back in 2015. Following the news, the Grease star declared she was “flattered.”
“That’s a wonderful thing,” the Broadway veteran told Page Six at the time. “I adored him from the first time I laid eyes on him because I thought he was genuinely sweet. I felt very protective of him because it was his first big job. It’s amazing for me to hear that he felt that way, I’m delighted."
After his split from Zampino, he found love with actress Jada Pinkett Smith. The duo secretly wed in 1997 before welcoming son Jaden, 23, and daughter Willow, 21.
Will is set to be released on November 9.
