Andy Cohen knows an opportunity when he sees one! The Bravo boss invited Meghan Markle to join the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after she and Prince Harry announced their plans to step back from being senior members of the royal family on Wednesday, January 8. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they will work to become financially independent and they plan to split their time between the United Kingdom and North America.
Andy, 51, extended the offer to Meghan in the comments section of the announcement on the royal couple's official Instagram account. "Open invite for The Duchess to join #RHOBH," he wrote. "Meghan Markle tagline suggestion: Beverly Hills is full of diamonds, but I’m the crown jewel," the BravoTV Instagram responded. "Might be time for a Canadian franchise," another fan wrote, in reference to the rumors that Meghan and Harry plan to relocate to Canada. They skipped Christmas with the royal family and spent their holiday break at a $14 million waterfront mansion in Canada with her mother Doria Ragland.
Meghan and Harry shocked the world with their decision to break away from the royal family. They posted a photo from their engagement and explained their reasoning for making the controversial move.
"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages," they wrote.

They continued, "This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support."
The former Suits actress has struggled with the spotlight since becoming a royal. She teared up discussing the transition and the public scrutiny in the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, which aired in October 2019.
"Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable. And so that was made really challenging, and then, when you have a newborn, you know? As a woman it's really, it's a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom and trying to be a newlywed, it’s um ... And also thank you for asking, because not many people will have asked if I'm OK," she told interviewer Tom Bradby.
