The busiest shopping day of the year is finally here. Black Friday, taking place November 27, is an informal name for the day following Thanksgiving and has been regarded as the beginning of the United States Christmas shopping season since 1952. The day represents the point in the year when retailers begin to turn a profit, thus going from being "in the red" to being "in the black."
