Kaia Gerber and her mom Cindy Crawford returned to New York City on January 14 after reports that the young model and Pete Davidson split. The 18-year-old kept a low profile at the airport following a weekend getaway to Miami.
Kaia and Cindy both sported a black shirt, leather jackets and sunglasses while at the airport. The mother-daughter duo looked like twins!
The 18-year-old model kept her head down and appeared to be in a somber mood as she came back from her vacation.
Kaia’s return to NYC comes one day after reports that she and the Saturday Night Live star split after less than three months of dating. Pete is reportedly entering a mental health treatment center after he allegedly “freaked out” at the model’s apartment in December.
“It looks like Pete and Kaia are over. It got very overwhelming for Kaia. Pete has a certain M.O. and he’s very intense to his girlfriends. Kaia is only 18 and it’s a lot to deal with,” a source told Page Six on January 14.

Kaia and Pete went public in October 2019 and their romance quickly heated up. In an interview with PAPER magazine in November 2019 he admitted that he falls in love intensely. “Sometimes when you put so much on someone, it overwhelms them, and then they don’t know if they could come close to that. Or if they can keep up with it. So, it’s very off-putting to some,” he said.
Another source told E! News on January 13 that Pete decided to seek treatment after Kaia’s parents Cindy and Rande got involved in their relationship after his behavior at the model’s apartment.
“Kaia doesn't know if she wants to continue in their relationship. She wasn't comfortable with what she saw and doesn't know if she can handle it. What she saw happen with Pete was very concerning and scary for her ... She cares about Pete and wants him to get better,” the source told E!.
Pete revealed in 2016 that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and has been very candid about his mental health since. In December 2019, he hinted at going to get treatment again during the “Weekend Update” segment on SNL. “I’m going on a little ‘vacation.’ You know, the kind of vacation where insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces,” he said. “And you have roommates but it stills costs like, $100,000.”
