Monday night only marked the third week of competition for Dancing with the Stars latest crop of competitors, but Christina Milian says she’s already reaping the benefits of participating in the show.
“(My body) is changing up,” she admits. “My waist is getting smaller. I’m tightening up.”
The singer, who most recently acted as the social media correspondent for The Voice, says she’s having a blast as a contestant.
“I’ve got a lot of energy and learning new dances has been a ton of fun,” says Christina. “I just keep looking forward to the next thing and the next thing.”
So if she had to choose, which reality series would Christina count as her fave?
“Oh, I love both,” she says diplomatically. “I couldn’t choose between the two. But to be honest with you, I really do love Dancing with the Stars. This is something I feel like I’m doing for me and on that show (The Voice) of course I get to focus more on other people’s competition and how they’re growing. It’s a totally different world. I love the two but I’m having a really good time with this.”
On Monday night, Christina and her pro dance partner Mark Ballas were left hanging during elimination as they were placed in jeopardy alongside Bill Nye and Tyne Stecklein until the latter couple was sent home. Despite knowing they had given strong performances throughout week two and week three, Christina says it was still a nerve-racking position to be in.
“It’s scary,” she admits. “It’s random but it’s still scary.”
For his part, Mark just didn’t want to be eliminated while he was still in his performance get-up, which included full clown face paint.
“I was thinking, ‘I wish I had taken this makeup off.'” he laughs. “I said it during the break, ‘Should I take it off just in case we get eliminated?’ You don’t want to be eliminated with a clown face.”
