Taylor Swift is notoriously unlucky with her romances and has a string of broken relationships already behind her at such a tender age.

The upside is though that with every heartbreak, the 22-year-old releases hit song after hit song, making her one of the most successful young singers ever to hit the music industry.

But a friend of the Red starlet told Us Weekly that Taylor's busy career and unrealistic expectations about romance is what has hindered her quest to find lasting love.

"All Taylor wants is to be loved," a friend of the country star said. "She's a prisoner of her work. It takes up all of her time."

"She overworks relationships. She puts so much pressure on them, it ultimately kills the deal. Then she's baffled as to why it didn't work."

Taylor has dated John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner and most recently Conor Kennedy.

She told Cosmopolitan that "the idea of finding another person to share your life with is the most fascinating, beautiful quest you could ever be on in life."

Taylor is also known for her grand gestures in relationships and went so far as to snap up a $5 million house near to the Kennedy compound when she was dating the 18-year-old student from the famous dynasty and chartered a private jet to fly him to her while she was working away.

The songstress writes about her make-ups and break-ups in tunes like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" putting the fear into any man she dates that they will be immortalized in song. But why her romances never last long is not that much of a mystery to the pal who thinks Taylor should relax a little bit when dating a guy.

"It's like she's analyzing love like a scientist, rather than just feeling it," the friend added. "It's ironic that she is a multimillionaire from singing about love."

"With each relationship, she's less and less naive about the reality of dating. She is starting to realize it's not this imaginary fantasy with princes on horses sweeping you away."
