After OK! exclusively reported that 2021 was going to be Adele’s “best year yet,” the singer broke her months-long social media hiatus (her last post was in January) to declare that she is “free” as she celebrates her 33rd birthday.
To ring in her new year, Adele posted a trio of photos to Instagram. The first is a casual black-and-white portrait of the singer, showing off her long blonde locks and wearing a simple sweater and hoop earrings (she also appears to be makeup free!).
In the second photo, Adele is seen going for a swim in a multi-colored swimsuit and chic sunglasses; the third image captures the superstar carefree and twirling, wearing a tie-dye off-the-shoulder maxi dress with her hair styled in beachy waves.
Fans lit up her comment section with praise, celebrating the queen of sultry pop’s big day. “Happy birthday angel!” a user wrote, while another commented, “STUNNING. AS. ALWAYS. 😍😍😍.” Others took the moment to question the “Rolling in the Deep” songstress on when she was going to drop some new music. “Happy Birthday Adele, hope 33 brings a new album,” one fan wrote, while another asked, "Miss girl will there be another album??”
Adele has kept a low profile over the last year, while her fans eagerly anticipate a new album. The 33-year-old bombshell emerged from the darkness last fall as she hilariously hosted Saturday Night Live, in which a source exclusively told OK! Adele walked off the SNL stage “feeling great and excited for the future.”
With good reason. After a difficult few years — which included a painful split from husband Simon Konecki, whom she shares son Angelo — the Grammy winner is flying high again after dropping over 100 pounds thanks to “daily exercise and a portion-controlled diet,” the source spilled. (She and Konecki finally reached a divorce settlement earlier this year after a two-year battle.)
Last year, as Adele celebrated her birthday, she nearly broke the internet with her stunning weight loss transformation. The singer flaunted her new body in a black minidress.
Her former trainer, Pete Geracimo, said at the time that he “loved watching her transform with each session.” He added that watching the singer “really get into the challenges” he set for her while working towards her fitness goals was inspiring.
Geracimo revealed that some days were more difficult than others for the “Hello” songstress, as she was in the midst of a divorce. “When we had low days, I would alter the workout so that it would ease her into training, get her mind off of what was bugging her and then, before you knew it, we were having a good session and working hard,” he told Us Weekly.
