Amal Clooney Gets a Helping Hand Off a Boat in Sparkly Fringed Mini Dress During Venice Date Night With Husband George

Amal Clooney traded her glamorous red carpet gowns for something a little more playful during a night out in Venice with husband George Clooney.

In the photos captured by an outlet, the human rights lawyer turned heads in a sparkly silver-and-aqua mini dress covered in layers of shimmering fringe. She was photographed stepping off a boat in the eye-catching number, which caught the evening light with every move.

Amal completed the look with strappy metallic heels and a small white clutch. Her long brunette hair fell in polished waves, while sparkling drop earrings added an elegant finishing touch.

While the outfit was anything but low-key, getting onto dry land proved to be the more memorable part of the evening.

In photos, Amal can be seen reaching for a helping hand as she carefully made her way down the boat's steps. She appeared unfazed by the slightly awkward moment, smiling as she continued toward the shore.

George, meanwhile, went for a much more low-key look. The actor wore a dark outfit as he joined his wife for their evening out.

The couple's Venice appearance comes shortly after a major moment for George at the film festival.

George was honored during the festival's opening-night ceremony on Wednesday, September 2, receiving the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice Film Festival.

During the event, the 65-year-old actor and filmmaker also opened up about his decision to step away from filmmaking for now, despite still enjoying the work.

“The only reason I’m not directing, which I love doing, is because I had two 9-year-old kids and in order for me to spend time with them,” he said, referring to his twins, Ella and Alexander, whom he shares with Amal. “If I act in a movie, it’s three months, and I can go and come and go and come back. When you direct a movie, it’s a year wherever you are, and there’s no traveling back and forth. So I can’t do that anymore.”

George earned a Best Director Oscar nomination for his 2006 film Good Night, and Good Luck, his directorial debut. His most recent movie as a director was 2023's The Boys in the Boat.

Still, George made it clear that his break from the director's chair isn't because he's unhappy.

He insisted, “I’ve had great experiences.”

Over the years, George has experienced both critical praise and disappointment behind the camera. He said he's learned to accept both sides of the job.

“I’ve been nominated for an Oscar, and I’ve also had really bad experiences, and that’s okay,” he said. “That’s part of me telling stories. People will agree and disagree.”

He also pointed out that the way a movie is received can change with time.

“I’ve done films that people hated when they came out and now they like them. I’ve done films that people liked that now they look at it and they don’t work anymore. Timing is a lot of that,” he added.

For now, though, family life has become a bigger priority for the actor.

George and Amal have largely kept their family life away from Hollywood's constant attention. The couple and their twins spend much of their time at their farm in the South of France, which they purchased for $8.3 million in 2021.
