The 62-year-old was recently spotted in Los Angeles while enjoying a day out shopping in the city. She wore a white T-shirt under a blue button-down shirt, paired with black track pants and grey sneakers. She completed her look with a black crochet handbag and sleek glasses.

“What is it with my low self-esteem?” Bridget asked rhetorically.

“I'm trying to be happy with my career. I think I should give myself a break, but I've got this bug that rides me. 'You should be doing better,’” she added.

“Every time I work, I'm frustrated with my physical inability to catch up to my mental picture,” she continued before revealing that leaving the industry and its strict beauty standards behind gave her the space to accept herself.

The retired actress once told The Guardian in an interview, “My tastes are too diverse. I don't want to be known as someone who can only do a certain thing, or be a certain way.”

“I want to have the freedom to experiment. Who wants to be narrowed down or put in a box? I'm freer this way,” she continued.

“I'll never be cast as the girl who's so pretty she can just stand there, or the one who's so quirky and comical that the whole thing stands or falls on her performance,” the Hollywood icon admitted.

The actress decided to quit Hollywood after she got into a car accident in the early 2000s that resulted in her vertebrae being fractured.

Her priorities also shifted when she welcomed her son Oliver Elfman in 2006 with her husband, Danny Elfman. Per the outlet, she wanted to give her full focus to raising her son at the time, without the constant scrutiny of being in the public eye.

The star once shared in an interview with Daily Mail in 2023 that she had no plans to return to acting, as she felt like it was “too nice being a civilian.”
