Britney Spears Teases What Her Estranged Family Taught Her With 'Stay Away From Idiots' Post As Famous Friends & Fans Show Support
Britney Spears has given credit to her estranged family for teaching her one important lesson.
On Tuesday, March 8, the Crossroads actress, 40, shared a comical quote to Instagram while pointing out the one vital piece of wisdom she learned from her family members.
"I found the key to happiness. Surround yourself with animals and stay away from idiots," the post of a Golden Retriever and a black cat staring out to the ocean from an account called Mermaid Musings read.
"My family has taught me one thing and one thing only …. LOVE ANIMALS 🐶😸 !!!!," Britney — who recently adopted a white Australian shepherd named Sawyer — bluntly captioned the photo.
Fans and friends took to the comment section to applaud the message, with Paris Hilton writing, "Yes sis!😍 That is the way to live! 🙌."
Another loyal follower commented of her fiancé, "You're better off without them! Keep Sam [Asghari] and good friends only, with your kids and pets too," as a third wrote: "At least they taught you one good thing."

The life lesson comes after the pop sensation explained in a Sunday, March 6, Instagram post that her father, Jamie Spears, and other people involved in her nearly 14-year long conservatorship allegedly violated and restricted her privacy.
Britney directly called out her dad — who served as the conservator of her estate up until September 2021 — in her scathing post, writing: "In a world 🌎 where it’s okay to lock your daughter up and make her work 7 days a week … 8:00 am to 6:00 pm … no days off … 105 people are in and out of a small trailer home 🏡 weekly."
"No private baths 🛁 … seen naked when changing … drugged … can’t even speak or talk …, " she detailed in the explosive post, adding that she had "to be available to the treatment people and show up every day for 10 hours a day," or else she would be forced to stay longer.
The "Toxic" vocalist has been making headlines in recent months as she and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, have taken their private feud public after the release of the Zoey 101 star's bombshell tell-all, Things I Should Have Said. In the book, Jamie Lynn made shocking allegations about her sister and opened up about her family's dysfunctional dynamic.
