Chicago based rapper and hip hop artist Edai 600 — also known simply as "Edai" — has reportedly died after being shot in the back multiple times.
The fatal incident allegedly happened either late on Saturday, July 31 or very early in the morning on Sunday, August 1.
It has been reported by SayCheeseTV that the singer was immediately taken to the nearby University of Chicago Hospital, but that he later passed away there at the hospital, likely while being treated for his injuries.
The drill hip-hop artist was a Chicago native, and released a wide array of mixtapes including, "So Serious", "Koopa the King" "Dey Ain't Drillin", "Forgotten", "How I'm Drillin", and "Im Self Made". One of his most popular songs was "Gucci", which gained from traction in 2021.
The artist's first solo album titled Came From Nothing was produced by his own record label Team 600 ENT in February 2014.
Edai had a considerable fan presence with over 200,000 Instagram followers.
His last Instagram post before his tragic passing was a promo for his latest song, "Bedrock". The caption read, "I pledge allegiance to my fans to keep dropping the hottest Sh** In America 🔥🔥🔥 new sh** just dropped link in the bio #Bedrock"
There are very few details on the shooting, and no news on whether it was a random attack or the result of an altercation.
It is also currently unknown who shot the hip hop singer, or if the Chicago police have any suspects in the case.
