Watch Claudia Conway Rock Second 'American Idol' Audition With Mom Kellyanne Cheering Her On
Claudia Conway took the American Idol stage for a second time during the Sunday, March 21, episode of the reality singing competition.
In the second round of auditions, the outspoken daughter of former Donald Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway shocked the judges when she debuted her dark long locks and more sophisticated appearance.
In a pre-recorded confessional, the 16-year-old reflected on her first audition, explaining: "I was really, really nervous, and I have these doubts in my head telling me, 'You're not ready, you're not good enough.'" Claudia also admitted that she's so "focused on all the noise and the people hating on me and my family online."
As OK! previously reported, Claudia had a rocky start on the show. Judge Katy Perry interrupted her first audition while she was singing Rihanna's "Love on the Brain" — but after a quick pep talk, during which the "Dark Horse" crooner told Claudia to "calm the storm that is around you," she redeemed herself with Adele's "When We Were Young."
During her Hollywood confessional, Claudia said she's now "drowning" out all of the criticism and "telling myself I can do it." Perry "believed in me, and I could not be more grateful for that,” she added.
Claudia performed Bishop Briggs' “River” — which won over the judges and earned her a spot in the next round of auditions — while her mom was watching from the audience.

Despite Claudia's tumultuous relationship with her mom, Kellyanne previously showed her support for the brunette beauty in a video clip. "[Claudia] sets goals and works toward them. Of course, American Idol is next level!" she said. "We are proud of Claudia for entering the arena and sharing her beautiful voice and inspirational message about mental health with others."
The TikToker's American Idol auditions come after she and Kellyanne made headlines following their intense family drama. As OK! previously reported, Claudia often aired her family's dirty laundry via the social media app (where she has 1.7 million followers).
However, things intensified after an alleged topless photo of Claudia was reportedly posted on Kellyanne's Twitter account and a spokesperson for the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office reported that the mother was under investigation.
Claudia took a hiatus from TikTok one day after the photo was leaked on January 25. She has since returned to the platform to promote her appearances on American Idol and show off her dance moves.
After her first audition, which aired on February 14, Claudia apologized for her performance, saying it was "god awful and i promise i do not sound like that," via TikTok. "U can bully me it's okay but wait till hollywood it gets good i promise i literately had strep throat bye," she captioned the clip at the time.
