David Foster spoke out against claims that he publicly snubbed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
The alleged incident took place at the 40th anniversary celebration of his foundation, David Foster and Friends, on August 7, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were present at the event, and during a moment on the red carpet, Foster appeared to walk past Markle without acknowledging her, even as she reached out a hand to stop him.
A viral video surfaced from David Foster's foundation's 40th anniversary gala where he appeared to snub Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the red carpet.
David Foster Claimed Viral Red Carpet Moment With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Was Misconstrued

David Foster called Prince Harry and Meghan Markle his 'dear friends.'
The 76-year-old recently appeared for an interview with People after videos of the moment went viral online, where he shared his side of the story.
“As the host of the David Foster and Friends foundation event, I had already greeted our friends, the Duke and Duchess, at the entrance 10 minutes before the red carpet encounter,” he said.
“They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone,” he continued.
He also insisted, “Harry and Meghan are dear friends of mine,” before adding, “Anyone watching can see there was no awkward moment and certainly no snub.”

David Foster and Katharine McPhee posed for photos with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
He called out tabloids for taking a few moments from the event out of context and sensationalizing them.
“It’s sad that certain media chose to deceive a red carpet encounter for clickbait. They turned simple ‘positioning’ to get the best photo into a hurtful lie.”
That was especially evident because, as the video continued, the legendary music producer could be seen walking back to the royal couple with his wife, Katharine McPhee, and posing for photos alongside them while smiling and laughing.

Meghan Markle and Katharine McPhee Went to High School Together

Katharine McPhee and Meghan Markle attended high school together.
The Suits alum and the Scorpion star apparently attended high school together. They reconnected later in life, and their husbands quickly formed a close bond.
The 42-year-old said as much to Access Hollywood in 2020, noting, “My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry.”
“They’re like, they’re so cute. They’re like father and son…We just stay in touch with them,” she added.
She also added that although she and the 45-year-old have known each other since childhood, “it's really nice” that their husbands formed such a meaningful friendship.

David Foster and Prince Harry reportedly became friends through their wives.
Foster also spoke about his relationship with the couple in an interview with Daily Mail, revealing that he once helped the Duke and Duchess find a private place in Vancouver for a vacation.
He added that he was glad that they could “go under the radar for so long” during their stay at the mansion, which was reportedly owned by one of his friends.
“I felt honored that I was able to help Meghan there because I’m a Canadian, and we’re a Commonwealth country; we’re the Crown’s. It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment,” he said at the time.
“I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite, just to take a little time off,” he added.
