After OK! spilled that ABC execs are scrambling to find a “Trump Republican” to fill conservative mouthpiece Meghan McCain’s vacant seat on The View, Donald Trump Jr. is pushing for his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle to get hired.
There’s been growing speculation over who might replace McCain after she announced earlier this month she was stepping away from the daytime talker to remain in Washington, D.C. (The View is filmed in NYC.)
Several names have been tossed around as to who might get a seat at the table, including controversial political commentator Candace Owens, reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly and Trump Jr.’s main squeeze.
As the hunt for the perfect fit continues, an insider dished that “It's chaos behind-the-scenes at The View,” adding that the remaining ladies are panicking over who might join them on the panel: “Joy Behar is openly moaning about Meghan leaving as it's finally hit her that sometimes it is better the devil you know.”
“Joy has only just realized that they could be getting someone much further right on the political spectrum than Meghan who won't put up with her crap,” the source continued, teasing that if ABC was smart, they’d do a “massive shake up” and hire someone like Kelly, Owens, or Guilfoyle to add a jolt of energy to the stale daytime talker.
The insider revealed that ABC tried to lure Guilfoyle away from Fox News three times during her tenure there — she worked at the cable newser from 2006-2018 — but she refused. “[Kimberly] would be great as she would literally prosecute the other members of the panel every day of the week,” the source said, referring to her past career as a prosecuting attorney in California. “One of our highest rated episodes ever was when she stopped by the show with Don Jr."
Tension is also mounting as fill-in host Ana Navarro is “desperately” vying for a permanent seat at the table alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, but the insider claimed ABC execs aren’t feeling her for the gig. “Ana doesn't deserve the chair,” the source explained. “She is not a Republican in the true sense of the word, all she does is slam people who voted for Trump.”
