Gwyneth Paltrow Experienced 'Love at First Sight' With Ex-Fiancé Brad Pitt, Admits She Still Has Feelings for Him 'to This Day' Decades After Split

Gwyneth Paltrow made a rare comment about her romance with Brad Pitt, revealing that she still "loves him to this day."

She referred to their relationship as a "love at first sight thing" during a September 8 appearance on the "Friends Keep Secrets" podcast with Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky.

"He was so beautiful," she gushed.

The actress, now 53, met Pitt when she was 22 and he was 31 on the set of the crime movie Se7en, which marked one of her first major roles and her first public romance.

"It was pretty awesome," Paltrow quipped, reminiscing about their three-year relationship.

Paltrow noted that, though she was in her early 20s, the relationship quickly grew very serious, eventually culminating in a private engagement in December 1996.

They called off their nuptials the following June, which Paltrow explained was due to busy schedules and distance from one another.

“I was just young, and we were working all over different parts of the world,” she recalled, calling their split "hard."

Since it was her first public romance, Paltrow also felt pressure from the press and the fans in a way she never had before.

“The press aspect and all that makes it feel larger than life in a way,” the actress noted. “You have to carry this faux cultural importance piece, this extra burden and extra shame that it didn’t work out.”

The discussion of their breakup prompted Blanco to take a jab at Paltrow's past split from her ex-husband, Chris Martin, which she referred to as a "conscious uncoupling."

After Pitt, the actress went on to be in a public relationship with Ben Affleck before settling down with the Coldplay frontman in 2003.

The former couple had two children together: Apple, 22, and Moses, 20. They finalized their divorce in 2016.

In Tuesday's interview, she recalled telling their children of their divorce at a "tense" family brunch. But the meal ended with hugs and "fist bumps" as the co-parents worked hard to "remain a family."

Paltrow moved on from her kids' father in 2018, settling down once again with writer and director Brad Fulchuk. They have been together ever since.

As for Pitt, Paltrow gushed that she still has lots of love and respect for him, though she holds no regrets over their breakup.

"He’s a great guy, and I love him to this day," she shared. "He’s a friend."
