Did Halsey Just Debut Their New Baby? Singer Holds A Newborn With Breast Exposed In Powerful Album Cover Photo
Hold up! Did Halsey just debut their new baby?
The "Bad At Love" singer, who has been expecting their first child with their boyfriend of less than a year, Alev Aydin, dropped a bombshell photo on the 'gram Wednesday, July 7.
A powerful image, shot by Lucas Garrido, depicts the 26-year-old — who prefers to go by "she/they" pronouns— sitting atop a gold throne, flanked by candles, with a crown on their head. Wearing a renaissance-style dress, unzipped with a breast fully exposed, they maternally held a newborn on their knee.
The album is "a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth," Halsey explained in the caption.
"It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months," they wrote. "The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully."
"My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being," they continued.

"This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired, We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding," they concluded. "I hope this can be a step in the right direction!"
It's unclear whether the baby in the photo was Halsey's own child or just a model for the shoot.
On January 27, the "Without Me" singer let the world know that they were expecting their first child with Aydin, a screenwriter, producer and director who has worked on independent projects, including the Netflix series Small Shots and Controller.
"Surprise!" they wrote alongside a series of shots showing off their baby bump. While fans were shocked, a source tells OK! that the singer was equally floored when they found out.
"Words can't describe the emotions," said the source, adding that there was a time that Halsey — who's been open about their desire for kids, as well as their past miscarriage and endometriosis diagnosis — wasn't sure that they'd be able to start a family.
As far as the baby's gender, Halsey and the fimmaker are "keeping it to themselves for now," spilled the source. Either way, "Halsey feels incredibly blessed."
