Jamie Lynn Spears Opens Up About Father Jamie's Alcoholism, Reveals His Personal Demons Caused The Family 'Torment' & 'Sorrow'
Jamie Lynn Spears has revealed the toll that her father Jamie Spears' alcoholism took on herself and their family.
In a page from the actress' upcoming book Things I Should Have Said read aloud by Juju Chang during her Good Morning America interview, Jamie Lynn, 30, detailed how her father's personal demons caused her immense pain.
“He spent most of my life in that cycle of ruinous behavior," the Zoey 101 star wrote in the book. "His bouts of drinking always caused me periods of torment and sorrow."
“It created a lot of anxiety," Jamie Lynn told Chang during the sit down. “The hardest part was, ‘Could I trust you? Are you drinking? Are you not?'"
“It was something that no kid should have to question,” the Sweet Magnolias actor explained of Jamie — who served as her sister Britney's Spears' co conservator for over a decade before it was terminated last year.

Her mother Lynne Spears detailed the patriarch's addiction issues in her 2008 memoir Through the Storm. “Jamie always enjoyed a beer here and there, but he didn’t start drinking heavily until after Bryan was born,” Lynne, 66, wrote via Page Six.
After enduring “years and years of verbal abuse, abandonment [and] erratic behavior" Lynne filed for divorce for the first time in 1979. The mother-of-three took Jamie back shortly after but then divorced him for a second time in 2002.
Lynne detailed that Jamie was “barely present, never mind supportive or loving” throughout their marriage due to the excessive drinking. After their pop star daughter, 40, urged her father — who she is estranged from currently for alleged abuse within the conservatorship — to go to rehab, he entered treatment in 2004.
As OK! previously reported, Jamie Lynn recently opened up about how angry Jamie was when she told him that she was pregnant at age 16. “My daddy and I stopped speaking and the tension was terrible,” she wrote in her memoir adding that her family continuously told her that “termination would be the best course of action.”
