It's Officially Over! Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez End Engagement, Confess 'We Are Better As Friends'
After weeks of speculation on whether or not Hollywood A-listers Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez would make it out of a rough patch, the power couple is officially over.
On Thursday, April 15, J.Lo and A-Rod confirmed their engagement has come to an end and that they are better off as friends.
"We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and each other’s children," they announced on the TODAY show and have asked for privacy for their children.
However, after the couple made headlines, they said that they were working through things in their relationship and seemed determined to weather the storm. Rodriguez even flew down to the Dominican Republic to seemingly do damage control with Lopez; the two were snapped getting cozy.
Lopez and Rodriquez got engaged in 2019 after they began dating in 2017, but postponed their wedding twice due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, trouble struck when the baseball pro got thrown into Southern Charm drama involving Madison LeCroy. It was said that the 45-year-old was DMing LeCroy, however, the Southern Charm star insisted that their conversations were "innocent."

While the pair seemed to put on a united front and were spotted together at Super Bowl LV amid the scandal, a future for J-Rod was just not in the cards.
The pair looked as strong as ever in recent photos but "their makeout sessions are totally staged," and when "no one is looking, they tone it down" an insider recently spilled to Life & Style. According to the insider, while they wanted "everyone to believe they’re still the perfect couple," Lopez was "humiliated and is struggling to forgive Alex."
As OK! exclusively reported, the "Hit The Floor" hitmaker was keeping a close eye on Rodriguez. "The whole scandal was a huge embarrassment for Jennifer," a source previously told OK!. "She is a total control freak when it comes to her image, and cheating rumors are not a good look, even when they are not true.
"You don’t get to be the biggest star in the world without paying close attention to every detail. Alex is surprisingly naïve when it comes to celebrity and fame," the source explained. "He doesn’t think about how every move he makes will be scrutinized and isn’t as careful as she is when it comes to social media."
Lopez shares twins and Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian David Muñiz with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Rodriguez shares teenage daughters Natasha Alexander Rodriguez and Ella Alexander Rodriguez with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
"We're always with the four kids. That's number one," Rodriguez previously said of their blended families. "We like to play games — we like chess, we like Monopoly — and we like to play softball. The one thing we've been doing the last several years is playing a family softball game, and that's always fun, because Jennifer is the master of trash talk."
