Did Alex Rodriguez Compete With Jennifer Lopez In Their Relationship? Insider Spills On Why Romance With Ben Affleck Works

As the summer of love continues for rekindled flames Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, sources are squealing that the duo is happier than ever and giving insight as to why her relationship with Affleck works over her failed romance with MLB slugger Alex Rodriguez.

"They're spending all of their free time together and making each other a priority. J.Lo falls hard and has certainly done the same with Ben again this time around. Ben is a guy's guy and does his own thing, which J.Lo loves,” a source spilled, before noting the differences between Lopez’s famous exes. “He has his own life and is famous in a different way than she is and is not trying to compete with her by any means. They just support and love each other."

As OK! previously reported, Lopez ultimately pulled the plug on her four-year romance with Rodriguez in April — following a series of COVID-related wedding delays, cheating rumors and breakup reports — because she could no longer fully “trust” Rodriguez, a source dished at the time, adding that there were “too many issues that are unresolved” between the couple.

Following their split, Lopez quickly ran back into the arms of her former fiancé Affleck. The duo — who called off their first wedding in 2003 — are hell bent on making their relationship work this time and drowning out Bennifer mania.

"When Ben reached out to J.Lo, she was really excited at the possibility of them rekindling their relationship. J.Lo has always had a love for Ben," an insider said. "Back in the day, Ben broke up with J.Lo because he was overwhelmed by the constant media attention and fame that the relationship brought, but now they are in an amazing place and have really learned what works for them as a couple."

The source dished to ET that their rekindled love "is not a big deal to either sets of kids," adding that the little ones "aren't super sensitive to the situation."

Affleck shares daughters Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12, and son Samuel, 9, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, whereas Lopez shares 13-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-hubby Marc Anthony.

Affleck recently bonded with Lopez’s daughter Emme over the weekend during a family outing at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Batman star was snapped with the teen, along with his daughter and son munching on bags of Wetzel Pretzels and enjoying their day in the sun. Affleck donned a Boston Bruins hockey shirt, and the kids dressed super casual as well with Emme rocking her bright-blue colored hair.
