Hewitt shared Hathaway’s August 9 red carpet photo and made it clear that she was not impressed by the commentary surrounding the actress’ appearance.

“@annehathaway you are perfection,” Hewitt began. “This woman has been working soooo hard. Handling it all with such grace and, by the way, looks incredible! And now, we are going to comment on her body while pregnant. Please stop talking about women’s bodies. Please leave women alone.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt urged people to stop commenting on women’s bodies, especially during pregnancy.

As OK! previously reported, Hathaway’s outfit put her growing belly front and center at the event.

The actress wore a custom light blue and red silk Atelier Prabal Gurung halterneck top with a high-low hem and a dramatic train. She paired the statement piece with baggy low-rise jeans and red-and-pink Aquazzura heels.

The Devil Wears Prada star completed the look with diamond drop earrings, layered gold and crystal bracelets and a high ponytail. A bright red lip added another pop of color to the ensemble.

While many fans praised the look, others were less impressed.

“Unflattering styling for a beautiful pregnant woman,” one user wrote.

Another person took things further on TikTok, commenting on Hathaway’s pregnancy bump, “I’m sorry but that looks fake.”

“That was my immediate reaction too,” another user responded.

Anne Hathaway announced in June that she and Adam Shulman are expecting their third child.

Hewitt's decision to defend Hathaway also comes from personal experience.

The actress has faced intense scrutiny over her appearance since becoming a star in the early 2000s. In a 2025 interview with Vulture, she recalled how comments about her body often overshadowed her projects.

“I worked hard on [I Know What You Did Last Summer]. I brought good stuff to it, and no one was talking about it. It was just ‘B---, b---, b---’ everywhere,” Hewitt recalled of the attention surrounding the “little blue top” she wore in the horror movie.

“I really wanted to be a good actor, and I was trying to give to the people watching. I was trying to outact the conversation around my body,” she added.
